Plant Life And Their Importance in Human Life
Plants are also living things, they gain energy from sunlight and grow, this process is known as photosynthesis. In photosynthesis, plants use water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide to convert into oxygen and sugar that plants use as fuel. Approximately 380000 species of plants are present and 260000 species produce seeds, their size from single cells to tallest trees. Green plants provide oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide.
The Life Cycle of Plants.
The Plant Life Cycle consists of the following stages.
Seed
The seeds are put in the ground under the mud and then waited until germination starts. Seeds also can be reserved for plantation.
Germination
When the conditions are suitable, a seed goes through the process of germination, a shoot breaks through the seed casing.
Root Growth and Shoot Growth
Roots come out of the seed and start to grow. The roots grow downwards into the soil the shoot growth grows upwards and breaks through the soil to find the sunlight. Water and sunlight work as fuel for plants.
Leaves and Photosynthesis
First leaves come out from the plant and the process of photosynthesis starts which converts the sunlight into sugar.
A Growing Plant
With the passage of time, plants grow by using the energy from the sunlight, water, and other nutrients such as minerals, gained from the soil the plants become adults and their size and shape depend upon their characteristics and environmental conditions.
Flowers Production, Pollination and Seed Dispersal
The adult plant is ready to reproduce then the production of flowers starts. Flowers contain the male and female reproductive parts of the plant. Plants fertilize when pollination occurs then plants produce more seeds. And seeds come out from flowers and fruits.
The Importance of Plants in Human Life
Plants play the following roles in Human Life.
- Food from Plants
- Medicine from plants
- Habitat for animals
- Medicines derived from plants
- Plants for mindfulness
- Preserving the environment
- Household items made from plants
- Trees provide shadow in 45C Temperature
- Absorb Carbon dioxide
- Plants produce oxygen
- Plants recycle matter in biogeochemical cycles
- Water cycle regulation
- Plants fight against climate change
- Preventing soil erosion
